Camille Rose Naturals *NEW* Curl Maker Formula 2014 Review

Did you even know Camille Rose Naturals released a new Curl Maker?

It almost slid by me too.

I had heard whispers about it on Instagram, but had yet to see anyone with it in-hand. One day, a few weeks ago, I was moseying along in Target and spotted ONE bottle of new formula. ONE. Without a second guess, I grabbed it.

I was anxious to try the new formula, because I couldn't ever really make Curl Maker "work" for me. My sister LOVES the stuff. I want to like it, but it almost seemed like no matter what I did, it flaked and made my hair feel a little dry and frizzy.

NOT ANYMORE!!! The new Curl Maker formula is nothing short of amazeballs. It has tons of slip and goes onto hair really easily, and creates soft, touchable, defined, shiny, and flake-free curls. But don't take my word for it! Check the review:

The new Curl Maker formula is available online at www.camillerosenaturals.com. It is $22 normally, although I copped it at the Target I frequent in Hawthorne for $11. The bottle is 12oz, and well worth every penny. Check your local Target to see if it's in stock!

Some review points I didn't quite hit in the video:
  • The fragrance is similar to the old Curl Maker, grapefruit/citrusy but a little sweeter
  • It's curly girl friendly and free of drying alcohols, harsh preservatives, silicones, mineral oils, and petroleum
  • Camille Rose Naturals products are all hand crafted!
  • Overall product rating: 4.5 stars. At $22 it's a little expensive, but a lot more economical than Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls, and contains WAY better ingredients. But the performance is phenomenal overall.
For those that would like to examine the old and new formula ingredients side-by-side:
Old Formula Ingredients:
Dionized water, glycerin, pectin, coco nucifera(coconut )oil, panthenol, equisetum arvense (horsetail) extract, urtica dioica (nettle) leaf extract, althaea officinalis (marshmallow) root extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice , agava americana leaf extract, punica granatum (pomegranate) seed oil, oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, PEG-40, hydrogenated castor oil, xanthan gum, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), cyanocobalamin (vitamin B-12), acrylates/C10-30, alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, aminomethyl propanol, pheoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, tetrasodium EDTA and LOVE!

  1. ahhh I noticed that elimination of glycerin first! I have a love/hate with it. It works really well with the SM Curling Souflee but only when used with SM Curl & Style Milk or the smoothie.

You can definitely see the difference in the two curl makers on your hair. The new one looks like your curls are more "in tact" if that makes sense.

I need to get this now lol. I just placed an order on Ulta for the Super Fruit complex. :-) I will eventually get to Target

    Tfs! Your curls look amazing!

  2. I totally get you!!! That's why I could never really make the old formula work for me. My sister loves it, but I really do have to use the new formula on my hair. I've noticed that my hair doesn't take too kindly to glycerin being so high on the list -- for me there is such a thing as TOO soft of a hold lol. Let me know how you like the Superfruit line! I'm beginning to feel a little underwhelmed. lol
