 While everyone marveled at the newness and heavenly fragrance, I knew it was my duty to answer that one question - but does it work tho?

Curly Girl Friendly
No. Curl Drench contains amodimethicone, which becomes water soluble (yes, a water soluble cone!) when accompanied by cetrimonium chloride and trideceth-12. In this case, amodimethicone is not water soluble (no trideceth-12 in the formula). .Although not water-soluble, amodimethicone is a deep conditioning silicone that targets the most damaged areas of the hair while resisting build-up.

The Good
Okay listen. You guys know I fell hard and fast in love with the Healthy Hair Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash. I thought that was the pinnacle of co-wash achievement for Jane Carter Solution. I was wrong.

Do you hear me?

I. Was. Wrong.

Curl Drench is #newcowashbae because like...it's everything. Slippier than it's Healthy Hair predecessor. Glides with even more ease over tangles, knots, and the rough ends of my hair (hi color damage). The fragrance is passionfruity-floral with a hint of pink starburst. It comes on a bit strong, but doesn't linger at all.

It makes my hair feel soft, shiny, and smooth. While removing gobs and gunks of old product buildup.

But that's not all.

When I filmed my video demo for the Curls to GO! line, it dawned on me that there was no rinse out or deep conditioner. Then I read the label: Use Curl Drench in place of shampoo and conditioner to reduce dryness, remove product build , cleanse, condition, and rehydrate your curls.

OH! So we're cleaning and conditioning with one product now? That's what we gon' do? Well aiight then.

As it turns out, Curl Drench hit the nail right on the head - I skipped deep conditioning and didn't look back.

The Bad
Given that this is #BlacknCurlyFebruary and all, I was shocked to learn (after using Curl Drench 3 different times) that it's not silicone free. This might be the first Jane Carter Solution product with a silicone in it. I ain't mad, and it ain't bad - I just wasn't expecting it. Nonetheless, the only complaint I have is, where's my flip-top lid Jane? We had a good thing going, now it's just...gone. Sigh.

The Bottom Line
If you're short on time, got crazy tangles, or battling aginst dryness on wash day, then Curl Drench is a must. I've fallen in love with Curl Drench something serious. Although I love the idea of using less products, I can't jive long-term with not deep conditioning. So I do it anyways - and just love Curl Drench all the same. It works great by itself, and with other products.

Would I Buy it Again?
Trick question! I didn't buy this one. But you better believe I'm stalking Sally's, Target, and anywhere else necessary to find Curl Drench on the ground. And don't be surprised if you see this pink jar at the end of 2017 in the Christina's Choice roundup. Just saying.

Jane Carter Solution came with it this year, y'all!

This line really took me by surprise, as I wasn't expecting the levels of awesomeness on wash day. Normally, my wash day is a hodgepodge of my favs or a mishmash of stash use-em-ups (you know how that be). Rarely do I ever use one product line throughout my entire wash day. But real talk, I'm glad I did. Jane Carter Solution's Healthy Hair line came through with the blessings, in a real way.

Because I can probably show you better than I can tell you, I recorded a video using each product on wash day. Per usual, you can find the product deets below - the video is just a glimpse into my wash day (sans shower). Because the Healthy Hair line consists of 6 products, I didn't want to skim on information or create a post that would take two weeks to read. So this review is for the first three products - the Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash, Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo, and Revive & Repair Hair Mask. The Good
Ok first things first. The first thing I know y'all gonna ask me - how does it compare to Bae Clean? Listen, Linda. No co-wash will ever, ever, EVAH compare to Bae. Because that's Bae. It's like comparing your man to Ghost. Yeah, he might look good in them suits, but Ghost can never do for you what your boo can. Cuz he ain't yours, he ain't real, and at the end of the day, his A-1 is Tommy.

Or is he?

LMAO, that was a long way to go for that one. But I say all that to say - 1: I love Power (clearly). 2: There will never be another to top Bae Clean. BUT - that won't stop me from giving proper dues. And for what its worth, the Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash deserves some major love. It detangles like a dream, cleanses ah-MAY-zing ly, and delivers soft, moisturized, and defined curls post-wash. Like, so much so that I seriously second-guessed deep conditioning. Oh, and jojoba oil and henna at the top of the ingredient list? That's what we call winning, folks. Plus, the price point for 16oz of product is pretty generous.

The Bad
The Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash smells amazing (really, the whole line does), but it skeeves me a little bit when fragrance is so high up on the list. But the upside to that is that the fragrance isn't overbearing and didn't trigger any allergies. Another downside that's ptobably an upside but I can't quite call it is the packaging. I absolutely LOVE the idea of a flip lid jar, conceptually. Because I typically wash my hair in the shower, not having to worry about where to sit the lid down is a huge help. But at the same time, because I just dip my hand in and scoop, I end up using wayyyy more product than I probably need to. This is where I miss having a pump. But when products get low, pumps are annoying. I don't know - I'm on the fence. What do y'all think?

The Bottom Line
All in all, the Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash is a top product from Jane Carter Solution in my book. I don't believe in co-washes that don't have slip - like, if you not gon' have slip - why not just shampoo? I detangled with Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash in great time, and the results were awesome. I highly recommend this if you've got dry and/or brittle hair, and you're looking to gently clean without fuss or drama. Plus, it's available on the ground.

Would I Buy It Again?
Absolutely. Without a doubt. See, here's the thing. I love Bae, but Bae has held a monopoly on my co-wash game for well over a year now. Probably closer to 2. And I'm a product junkie - I crave variety. This right here? Might just be the switch-up I was looking for!

Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo

• Sodium Methyl Oleyl Taurate: Gentle cleanser used to increase the viscosity (thickness) in a surfactant mix, and provide lather.
• Cocamidopropyl Betaine: Coconut oil-derived detergent, anti-static, and hair conditioning agent
• Decyl Glucoside: Natural, non-ionic surfactant created using a combination of plant-based fatty alcohols and glucose. It's mild, gentle, and does not dry out the hair or skin.
• Polyquaternium-7: Polymeric quaternary ammonium salt used as an antistatic agent and hair fixative (for hold).

Curly Girl Friendly?
Umm, I'ma ask y'all. I'm not the CG expert when it comes to shampoos and cleansers.

The Good
I tend to not have a whole lot to say about shampoos, because they're one-trick ponies. But I will say this - the Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo definitely made my scalp feel clean and refreshed. It lifted buildup easily and had some nice sudsing action. It also didn't dry my scalp out - which as someone with psoriasis, I appreciate. Even though the shampoo did not detangle my curls, it didn't turn them into a crunchy, tangled ball of messness, either. I appreciate that, too. Because some shampoos are a hot mess in that regard. Renewable Difference ain't one of 'em.

In the video, you see me use the shampoo a little differently than traditionally used. That's because I discovered that I liked Renewable Difference more as a mid-month scalp cleanser than as a traditional shampoo. For those of y'all that don't know, I co-wash 3 weeks out of the month, and on the last week, I shampoo to lift buildup, clarify, and reset my curls. But as my workouts intensify, I find myself needing a bit more than a co-wash mid-month - and that's where Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo really shines for me. I added a generous amount of shampoo to about 7oz of warm water in an applicator bottle, and used the nozzle to concentrate the shampoo mixture directly on my scalp.

It's a total win, and ideal for naturals who have a more active lifestyle but don't want to over-shampoo their curls.

The Bad
To be honest, I didn't experience anything "bad" with Renewable Difference. The only thing I didn't get from the product was the ability to detangle - which I don't particularly look for in a shampoo, but is nice to have.

The Bottom Line
To be honest, I didn't find much wow factor in using Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo as a full-on shampoo. To be honest, at this point in the game, there are other shampoos on the market that detangle, gently cleanse, file your taxes for you, and moisturize your curls all at the same time. Stacked up against that, it can be kinda hard to compete.

Would I Buy It Again?
Honestly, nah. I like it enough, and with the way I'm using it (diluted), it'll last a mighty long time. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid shampoo - and I definitely like using it mid-month to renew my scalp. But there's nothing super special that stands out about it, and for that, I'll have to pass.

The Good
Right out the gate, I love everything about this mask. The fragrance (sweet and floral). The thickness. The creaminess. Spreadability. Slip. The results. From the rooter to the tooter, Revive & Repair Hair Masque is a winner. It's a great rehydrator, and perfect for curls that tend to be on the drier side of life. This deep conditioner went on my hair like a dream, made my curls pop, and feel like buttah! I mean, you can filter a photo...but video don't lie! Y'all know I live for the buttah feel, right?

The Bad
No downside here, except one thing. Jane, can we get the Revive & Repair Hair Masque in a jar the same size as the Cleansing & Conditioning Co-Wash? And A flip lid too? #thanksinadvance #illloveyouforever

The Bottom Line
Since my Be Kekoa curly cut and Rapunzel Growth Challenge, I'm entering a new season with my hair. A season where the majority of my hair is healthy (and not color damaged). And therefore, the needs of my hair are changing again. Whereas I used to be all proteinproteinPROTEIN, I now need to revisit older practices in my regimen, like alternating between protein and moisture treatments. And let me tell you rightchea. Revive & Repair is dope - like, might be creeping for one of those Christina's Choice 2016 spots...

Would I Buy It Again?
Absolutely. And double that if I can get that 16oz with a flip lid jar.

The Good
Yall, Slumber Party is legit. It comes in a spray bottle, but I almost feel like it belongs in a regular screw lid bottle. It's creamy, velvety, and goes right into the hair. Jane Carter Solution really knocked it out the park with this one. Y'all know how I feel about leave-ins - they're vital to the outcome of the wash and go. Bad leave-in = bad hair day. Great leave in = great hair day. Truth be told, Slumber Party is everything I wanted Mielle's White Peony Leave-In to be. Rich, creamy, and truly provides that moisturizing canvas. Total winner in my book.

The Bad
I'm not a fan of anything in a spritz bottle that I have to use on wash day. Chances are, my hands are already wet, and covered in product residue - making it insanely difficult to grip and spray. I'd much rather this come with the standard press open or flip cap. Other than that, we're golden.

The Bottom Line
Amazing leave-in. Leaves hairs smooth and shiny without feeling greasy or weighing it down.

The Good
Linda. Listen, Linda. I said it in the video and I'll say it again - Frizz Free Styling Smoother is the product I didn't know I needed, but now I never wanna live without. Is it a leave-in, a cream, a curl definer? I don't know. But what I do know, is that it's majestic. It's beautiful. It gave my curls a new lease on life.

Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic, but Frizz Free Styling Smoother gets major love from me. For the curlies with baby smoove curls (not me), you can probably get away using this alone as your curl definer. However - I appreciate Jane Carter for not trying to play folks with more textured curls, and passing this off as a styler. It's clearly labeled as a leave-in, frizz controller, and curl prepper. The directions even say to apply it to wet curly/coily hair as a base hydrator and frizz reducer, before applying styling product. Team Jane, thank you for your honesty.

The Bad
Zip. Zilch. Nada. Okay. One tiny thing. Soybean oil. Not a huge fan - I share why a little later on.

The Bottom Line
I've come to the conclusion that Frizz Free Styling Smoother is a curl primer that assists in reducing frizz and imparting major shine to the hair (see photo below). Beyond that, it doesn't take a whole gob of product to work its magic (what you saw in the video is how much I applied to my whole head), and it doesn't interfere with one of the most notoriously difficult gels to work with - Eco Styler. Yep. A winner in my book.

Would I Buy It Again?
Don't play yourself. Of course I am. And look for this baby in the Christina's Choice 2016 roundup, too.

The Good
The Complex 4 Oil is lightweight, smells amazing, and imparts impeccable shine. I used it both as a pre-poo and sealant, and it served me quite well both ways. My hair didn't feel greasy or weighed down in the slightest.

The Bad
Full transparency here - my gripe with Complex 4 is the same challenge I had with Miche's POLISHED - soybean oil. Absolutely, soybean oil has value in hair products. There's a reason it is continuously used in oil blends. But, it's just not my cup of tea. A dealbreaker, no. But just a personal idiosyncracy.

The Bottom Line
An all around versatile oil. Perfect for pre-poos, sealing, hot oil treatments, henna mixes, and more. Lighweight and powerful, without the greasies.

Would I Buy It Again?
To be honest, no. It's a good oil, but not a stand-out or essential for me. However, if Jane Carter Solution released an exclusive, pure Maracuja Oil... I'd be 187.6% down for that. #justtakemymoneynow

Lately, I've been experimenting with simplifying/condensing my wash and go product lineup. Normally, I use a leave-in conditioner, moisturizer, sealer, and definer. However, as natural hair product companies get more creative, I've been able to scale back on the defining products. There are a host of products that not only hydrate, but they contain butters and oils for nourishing the hair, and some light hold (alcohol free) ingredients as well. Here are 7 awesome products that will help you kill two birds with one stone in your routine:

1. tgin Twist & Define Cream


Based in coconut oil, and infused with Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B-5, this creamy, borderline pudding/custard is lightweight, but great for moisturizing and defining curls. I had my doubts about it at first, but the proof is definitely in the pudding (no pun intended). It left my curls defined, hydrated, and ever so slightly elongated. They were super soft too! I couldn't stop touching my hair. The fragrance is sweet and slightly floral, and in no way overbearing. Bonus: this product is shea butter and protein-free, for those that don't care for those particular ingredients.

2. Cream and Coco Gooseberry Aloe Pudding


Formerly known as "Curls For Days", this reinvented defining pudding is loaded with all kinds of curl-friendly goodies. Based in avocado oil shea butter, and aloe vera juice, this pudding goes on slightly thick, but remains incredibly lightweight. The sweet berry fragrance is a nice touch, but won't leave you walking around smelling strongly of candy. The pudding left my hair touchably soft, yummy-smelling, and gently defined. It doesn't have as much hold as some of the other products listed, but it definitely holds its own! Additionally, the Gooseberry Aloe Pudding does not contain coconut oil, making it a great alternative for those who prefer avoid that ingredient.

3. Kurlee Belle  Kurl Defining Crème


Another one that came as a shock to me was the Kurl Defining Crème. I had this product pegged as simply just a moisturizer, but Kurlee Belle wasn't going to go out like that! Packed with coconut oil, shea butter, cupuacu butter, and argan oil, this super moisturizing product also defines curls quite well. I had initially set out to layer it with the Jelle Coconut Styling Gel (the two make an awesome pair for even more definition), but I realized that the Kurl Defining Crème was more than capable of doing the job. The Kurl Defining Crème is protein free - for those that may have protein-sensitive hair, and has a gentle, vanilla-like fragrance similar to Soultanicals Fluffalicious Curl Nutricious.

4. Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel


A hybrid of butters, oils, and aloe vera, the Aloe Whip Butter Gel is raved about in forums and reviews online. I can't find it in any Target stores locally (boo), so I've settled for ordering it online to see what all the jazz is about. Loaded with aloe, macadamia oil, and avocado oil plus vitamins and extracts. Word on the street is, it defines without crunch, tames frizz and flyaways, and delivers consistent results. I can't wait to see what all the fuss is about! This product is free of coconut oil, shea butter, and protein.

5. Jane Carter Solution Incredible Curls
Based in shea butter, jojoba and avocado oils, this incredibly light and relatively new product offering from Jane Carter Solution is great at defining curls and taming frizz. It is not my favorite in terms of fragrance (it has a very strong perfumed, almost cologne-like smell), but the product most certainly delivers. As with most of the products on this list, Incredible Curls works best on wet hair - providing shine, definition, and hold without crunch and dryness. It is also protein and coconut oil free, in case your hair objects to either of those ingredients.

6. Soultanicals Mango Dip Detangling Slip


Okay, so this one is not a pudding, custard, or cream. It is sold by Soultanicals as a detangler and leave-in conditioner. However, I discovered on accident that it makes quite the curl defining product - likely due to the presence of aloe vera juice and flaxseed gel inside. It is loaded with extracts, herbs, oils, and butters, but still manages to be super slippy and lightweight. It distributes easily though the hair, and has a great tropical mango scent. Yes, it works great as a detangler (click here to watch me work with it), but it makes a pretty awesome shea butter, coconut oil, and protein-free curl defining product as well.
