2nd Day Hair: Remixing The Flat Twist

To date, of my favorite protective styles has been the messy bun with flat twist crown. But honestly speaking, I get bored easily, and I'm not a fan of 2nd or 3rd day frizz. This morning, I decided to do something a little differently, and remix the flat twist crown. I found this style to be super quick, super simple, and super cute. All you need is:
  • Your choice prep products (mine are a spray bottle of water, recession-proof spray and coconut oil)
  • Your choice holding product (EcoStyler gel for me)
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Bobby pins
  • Banana clip
  • An old crown flat twist
Step 1: Prep your bun hair with prep products, and add holding products around the edges. Smooth into a high bun. For step-by step instructions on the big all-day bun, click here.

Step 2: Secure bun with bobby pins.

Step 3: Undo your flat twist. It looks something like this:

Step 4: Fold the undone flat twist backward into a hump of your desired height. Secure hair with bobby pin close to the hump, and tuck the ends (if they reach) into the banana clip. You can further secure it with an additional bobby pin or two. If the ends don't reach, use bobby pins to hold them down as well.

Enjoy!
