Neva woulda maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaade it.

Without youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Ya'll think I'm being funny, but seriously. Thanks be to God that I've been able to make it thus far and not lose my mind. As I shared with ya'll last time, caffeine withdrawal is a real thing. And I had it bad, like worse than Usher had it bad in You Got It Bad. Judging by the exponential increase in corny jokery, you can tell that I'm coming out of that caffeine withdrawal victorious. I'm two weeks off the brown horse, and feeling pretty great. My energy has returned (I'm at about 85 - 90%), the insomnia is gone, and so are the headaches, lethargy, sleepiness, and night terrors. I'm kidding about that last one. Caffeine withdrawal doesn't cause night terrors (at least I don't think). I still get cravings, but now it's purely based on habit (like my usual Sunday morning pre-church joe) rather than addiction or need. I don't really miss soda, juice, or any other kind of drink. Ordering water at a restaurant or has now become second nature.
Enough about that. This week, I gave up refined grains: flours, rices, pastas, breads, etc. At first I thought to myself that this would be simple enough. I already enjoy brown rice regularly, along with whole wheat pastas. I've even started making my cornbread with whole wheat flour (and it's darn delicious). Little did I realize that this would mean cookies, cakes, pies, and any other confectioneries not made with whole wheat flour, too. But hey, it's for the better. Week 2 went by without much challenge, although I did find myself having to refuse certain dishes and avoid certain restaurants (I'm looking at you, Panera). The biggest inconvenience for me was eating on the go. I didn't have much (or any, for that matter) time to cook during Week 2, so I found myself in pursuit of restaurants that serve whole grains or brown rice. Needless to say, I'm all Chipotle'd out. Sidebar: their Sofritas are OFF THE CHAIN RIDICULOUS DELICIOUS!
All in all, it was a pretty solid week...except on Sunday, I definitely had some pizza and wings. But oh well, I'm not beating myself up over it. If I make 95% good decisions, I'm okay with that.
Now onward to week 3, this sugar thing. Pray for me ya'll. It's gonna be rough.

Can you please share your cornbread recipe? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI sure will! A few folks have been asking, so I may as well oblige. Stay tuned!
Deleteyes, those softisa are the truth!!!
ReplyDeleteIn fact, health consists of many things, and if a person wants to be healthy, then he needs to care everything at once, and not pay attention, say, only to sports or only to nutrition. In addition to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I also take Delta 10. I have read many positive reviews on this supplement, so I am sure that it will help me.
