#EveryDayFitness Week 1 Update


As I write this post, I'm sitting and trying to stretch at the same time because umm...I'm sore. #EveryDayFitness got really real, really quick. But overall, I am encouraged, and really looking forward to this second week kicking off with a bang. So how did I make it through my first week? Keep reading to find out!

Working Out
Being active every day is tough, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't difficult carving out time each and every day to do some physical activity. As a matter of fact, I had to get super creative on Friday and speedwalk through Westfield Century City while on my date with Samuel just to keep with my goal. But beyond that, there were days where I felt like I absolutely could not. I went super hard on days 1 and 2, and on day 3, I felt like a bag of bricks hit me in my back, legs, shoulders, and arms. On those days where my muscles just would not let me be great, I resolved to do cardio only to give my sore self a chance to rest. There were days I went to the gym kicking and screaming, but I went. The most important takeaway for me was that I felt sooooo much better after I left. #ShoutOut to Coast Fitness for having Hydro Massage Beds!

Oh, and by the way -- if you're like me and need an extra kick to get your mind and body ready to work out, I highly recommend looking into a pre-workout supplement, drink, or powder. Right now I'm taking Muscle Pharm Assault Pre-Workout (fruit punch flavor), which I purchase from Vitamin Shoppe. It's my powdered motivation for days where my mind and heart say yes, and my body says no. I've tried SEVERAL powders and drinks, and this is one of the best ones I've ever used. I'ts a little bit on the expensive side, though. Let me know in the comments below if you'd like me to do a post about how to pick a pre-workout powder to help you meet your fitness goals!

Eating Better
Ehhh.... I'm not gonna lie. I'm still struggling a little bit to get on the healthy eating bandwagon. Working full time and jetting to the gym right after work (and not to mention battling the infamous 405) leaves very little time for cooking. But I can't continue to let that be an excuse or crutch. Nor can I continue to blame the very delicious, very sugary snacks that my job so graciously provides in abundance. I feel like I'm getting a good grip on moving my body every day, so week 2 I'm looking forward to finding different ways to make sure my body is being fueled properly. If I gotta bust out the Foreman Grill at 9pm while writing blog posts, then I'm gonna do what I gotta do. Hold me to this, guys! On my week 2 post, be sure to ask me, "how you doing on food, Christina?"

Better Beauty
As far as haircare goes, there's not much new to report. My mainstays are my mainstays for a reason. I'm still rocking ridiculously tough with Be Kekoa (especially my Bae Clean), and my $5 Wash and Go is proving to be everything I need it to be. Oh, and I absolutely cannot forget about Eden BodyWorks Kids Berry Natural Smoothing Gel. Wash and go's are holding me down for sure. I highly recommend them if you're going to be doing a lot of intense workouts. I'm sticking more closely to washing my hair every 3 days because the every day workout sweat game is real, and a stinky scalp ain't cute.

#EveryDayFitness Week 1 Update

As far as skin and scalp are concerned, TriDerma Skincare was generous enough to support my total wellness goals by sending me a 5-month supply of their Psoriasis Control Lotion and Shampoo. If you recall my empties video, then you know I've been buying TriDerma Psoriasis Control Lotion for a minute to help manage my psoriasis. I stopped using the prescribed medications from my dermatologist, because I learned about the hazards of using steroid-based medications constantly -- which include everything from resistance to treatment and skin damage, to salt and water retention, high blood pressure, glucose intolerance, and Cushing's disease. It's been a long transitional road, but I'm glad I made the switch now instead of waiting until it was too late.

I'm using TriDerma's Psoriasis Control Lotion on my face and body with great results. My skin is looking a little clearer as the days go by. I'm super pumped about the Psoriasis Control Shampoo though! It's the answer to my medicated shampoo prayers. Once a week on wash day, I apply the Psoriasis Control Shampoo directly to my scalp before hopping in the shower and allow it to sit and penetrate. I then massage and cleanse my scalp in the shower to remove any flakes (which are diminishing, by the way), and rinse. I then continue the rest of my wash day per usual with Bae Clean and deep conditioning. A lot of the psoriasis I used to have behind my ears is fading away, and my scalp isn't nearly as itchy and flaky as it used to be (thank you Jesus). I'm sure TriDerma would not endorse what I'm about to share, but I've also been using the shampoo as a face wash #dontjudgeme. In my facial care routine, I've replaced my Desert Essence face wash with TriDerma Psoriasis Control Shampoo and the payoff has been even greater. I'm going to share some progress photos with you guys eventually, but just take a look at this photo from the end of Week 1:

I think it's safe to say that #EveryDayFitness is paying off. What's exciting is that this is only the beginning!

  1. Fitness requires lots of strength and stamina. When you are spending hours in gym, at that time your full body get sweated. At that time you can't go for shower, but can use best cleansing body wipes that will help you to prevent from germs.
