Small Business Spotlight & Product Review: Tree Hut Amazon Pequi Skincare Line

Just arrived at my doorstep!!! Can't wait to review the Tree Hut Amazon Pequi line! Super excited, because this line is geared toward those of us with skin problems. Shout out to the good folks at Tree Hut for sending me the line!!! #TreeHut #productreview #beautifulskin #naturalbeauty #blogger

Over a month ago, I reached out to the good folks at Tree Hut and let them know that I absolutely ADORE their Hawaiian Kuikui Nut & Olive Oil Shea Sugar Body Scrub. They loved my review, and sent me the Amazon Pequi line to test drive. I must say that ever since this line arrived at my doorstep, I have had my eyes set on nothing else. All my shower gels, lotions, body butters, and scrubs are all products from Tree Hut's lines. I've (obsessively and compulsively) accumulated products from the Honey & Almond, Coconut Lime and Hawaiian Kuikui & Oil lines. What's so darn great about the products? Keep reading to find out why Tree Hut has my vote, hands down for the best skincare line for the money.

The Amazon Pequi line includes Shea Moisturizing Shower Wash, Shea Sugar Body Scrub, Shea Extra-Rich Moisturizing Lotion, and Soothing Body Butter. One of the first things I love about the Tree Hut website is that they are completely honest about what's inside of their products. The entire ingredient list for every single product is only a mouse-click away. I love that their products are affordable, and popping up everywhere! Everything is under $8 and if you're lucky, the products you're purchasing have that glorious $1-off coupon attached.

According to the Tree Hut Website, the Amazon Pequi is formulated to specifically help combat skin conditions. I figured since I have psoriasis, this would be the perfect line for me to try out. There is an emerging body of research purporting that Pequi Fruit Oil is rich in omegas and vitamins E and A among others. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, reparative and anti-microbial properties. And due to the fatty acid content, Pequi Fruit Oil can help cure damaged skin such as eczema, psoriasis and cracked skin.
Because I'm reviewing an entire line, I cut some corners in the review process. I know ya'll don't want to read an expository essay on Tree Hut products...so I'll try my best to keep it short and sweet. A few ingredients (top 6, since they have the most impact), pros and cons. Ready? Let's go!

Moisturizing Shower Wash
Ingredients: Water, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Acrylates/Palmeth-25 Acrylate, Copolymer, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate

Pros: I. LOVE. THE. SCENT. Not just of the body wash, but the entire darn line. Of all the products, this one surprised me the most. Because of the sulfates (albeit less harsh than SLS), I expected the body wash to leave my skin somewhat dry. But use after use, my skin was anything but. The wash is creamy, smooth, and well...had me leaving my other soap out to dry (literally).
Cons: I'm disappointed that Shea Butter and Pequi Fruit Oil didn't make it into the top 5 or 6. Don't get me wrong, they're 9 and 10 respectively, but a little higher up on the list would've been awesome.

 Body Scrub
Ingredients: Sucrose (Sugar), Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Silica, Caryocar Brasiliense (Pequi) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)

Pros: I already broke down why I love the ingredients here, as they are fairly similar to the Hawaiian Kuikui scrub. The honey-like (minus the stickiness) consistency and fine granules are a plus for me -- making this scrub ideal for use from head to toe. Everywhere this scrub touched felt baby smooth and moisturized, without a greasy after-feel. And Pequi Fruit Oil is ingredient #5, woo-hoo! Lastly, even the little green beads inside the scrub are natural (chromium hydroxide green) from mineral sources.
Cons: None. Nothing but LOVE!

Extra-Rich Moisturizing Lotion
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Isopropyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

Pros: EVERYONE that came into contact with this lotion absolutely loved it (and tried to steal it from me). Honestly, I can't see myself going back to Jergens, Aveeno, or any other lotion brands. Tree Hut has me spoiled. The lotion is so creamy and smooth...it's almost ridiculous. My skin feels SO velvety and baby smooth every time I use it, and it lasts ALL DAY. The scent really comes through here (without being overpowering), so much that people I come across ask what fragrance I'm wearing because it smells so good. This is great if you want to skip perfume or body sprays for the day!
Cons: I want to fuss about Pequi Fruit Oil not being in the top 6 ingredients, but the lotion is honestly so damn good that I don't care.

Soothing Body Butter
Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Glyceryl Stearate, Cyclohexasiloxane

Pros: Much like the lotion, the body butter gives me the same smoothness and all-day moisture. It just takes a bit more rubbing because it's thicker. I also love the glycerin in the butter and lotion; it's enough to be a humectant without leaving skin feeling sticky. Between the lotion and the butter, you really can't go wrong!
Cons: Again, I want to pitch a fit about the whole Pequi Oil thing. But again, I don't care. Sorry ya'll.

Bottom Line
I really can't say enough great things about the Amazon Pequi line from Tree Hut....or any line from Tree Hut for that matter. And to be truthful, the proof is in the pudding. You can always tell how a blogger really feels by whether they'd spend their own money on the products. And even though Tree Hut sent me the Amazon Pequi line, I still go out and regularly spend my money on their other lines because I believe in their products.

But I digress. The Amazon Pequi line smells amazing, and none of the products disappointed me. The fragrance is fresh, floral, and gentle without being overbearing. The day my shower gel ran out, I howled so loud I'm sure the whole neighborhood heard me from the bathroom. I almost shed a tear when I used the last corner of the scrub. I ration out the lotion and body butter, because I almost want to have them forever. Call me crazy, but I liked the line that much. Although the line didn't make my psoriasis go away (keep it real, not much topical will), it didn't agitate, inflame, or make it worse. On the whole, my skin got smoother and I almost want to say my tone is evening out. I love that for those with more sensitive skin, they ditched the artificial colors and kept the synthetic fragrances to a minimum. I would love for them to incorporate natural fragrances instead, but my skin wasn't adversely impacted by the ones present. They're so far down on the list, I'm sure the concentrations are sparse at best. The bottom line for this gal:

*almost* willing to admit I have a slight obsession with Naterra and their Tree Hut Shea products. Minus the Amazon Pequi line I was gifted for review (coming soon), I scour the earth (LA County lol) in search of bodywashes, scrubs, lotions, and body butters. Affordable, amazing, and well worth it every time. Summertime smooth skin is real, ya'll!!! #beautifulskin #smoothskin #beautyproducts #Naterra #TreeHut #imobsessed

I'm obsessed. I love Amazon Pequi, and every other line I've tried.

  2. Haha, I heard angels singing and a halo appear in that picture near the end XD

Honestly, I've never been much of a body scrub fan (I just stick to St. Ives and Olay) but seeing this review has got me thinking that I should branch out; heck, I might try the whole line since it might work better than what I've been using. Baby steps, lol.
