Update: The Secret to Long Lasting & Defined Wash and Go's [[RESULTS]]
It's Saturday night, and I'm sitting at home writing this post.
At this point in my life, I spend my Saturday nights talking with BF, blogging, YouTubing, planning, watching Adult Swim, and resting up for church on Sunday mornings. Pretty eventful, huh? Ya darn right. Before I ramble on into amusing you all with the things I don't do on Saturday nights, let me get to the point of this actual post: update pics.
Thus far, the biggest critique of my recent YT video is that I don't have results pics. Sorry, people! I literally filmed that video as I was doing my hair in preparation for date night. My hair takes several hours to dry -- so I didn't even get a 100% dry pic until today (day 2). Last night's pictures were 90% dry at best.... #thestruggle. Anywho, I indicated in the information box that I'd be updating my Instagram and blog with pictures. Just in case you're not following me, here are a few pictures:
Day 1
In this particular picture, my hair was about 90% dry. My roots at the front and in my crown were damp, while all else was dry. This was before I made my epic Fruit Ninja run at Dave & Busters :)
Day 2
This flick comes courtesy of the #NonInstagramFiles. This is my 100% dry day 2 hair, pre-workout. Still plenty of definition, and a little more shrinkage than yesterday. My hair is only down because I called myself tryna be cute for a gym selfie. Trust and believe, when it was time to get to work, my hair went back into the bands and scarf pineapple!
Day 2, Part 2
This hair right here? This hair right here? Survived it ALL. An intense 2 hour gym session, complete with cardio, running suicides, kettlebell swings, and more. A good 30 minutes of horseplay/wrestling with BF, which involved headlocks, and even getting some of my hair stuck under his arm (don't ask...just keep reading). It also survived some Bay Area-esque fog, which took away any little bit of stretch my overnight and gym scarf pineappling had given me. No worries though -- it is softer (I told ya'll the crunch goes away), defined, has plenty of volume, and the fog just gave me some extra moisture!
Day 2, Post-Night Routine
As I write this post, I have one hand on the keyboard and the other in my hair. I need to stop before it gets super frizzy, but I just can't stop touching it! Sooooo, soft and supple feeling! I pretty much stick to my nighttime routine video, but I mix up the products based upon how I'm feeling. I always start off with my Q-Redew for deep penetrating moisture and refreshing, and then move on to my other products. I used Curls' Curl Souffle for more moisture, and sealed my ends with Rapunzel The Future of Hair's Hair Silk. I decided to switch it up a little and give Lawrence Ray Concepts Mega Bounce & Body Hair Bling a try -- total WIN! It really took my hair to the next level. Lastly, I made sure to nourish my edges with Kyra's Shea Medleys Rejuvenation Butter Cream. I then followed my video and banded + pineappled. Time for some ZzzZZzzzzZZZzz....
As the days pass, I will keep updating with pictures. Also, just to clarify:
- I only used Aussie Moist Conditioner and tgin Twist and Define Cream to set this wash & go.
- Between Day 1 and 2, all I did is apply a little Rapunzel The Future of Hair's Hair Silk to my ends to protect them.
- I still go by my nighttime routine -- in terms of banding the front and doing a scarf pineapple. The products may vary slightly, but the idea is still the same -- Q-Redew, water-based moisturizer, end sealing, overall sealing (light), and nourishing my edges.
Day 3 and 4 hair tends to be my favorite -- I am able to achieve the perfect combination of size and definition. Plus, by this time any crunchiness has totally worn off, and my hair is super bouncy, and full of body. Day 3 hair definitely did not disappoint! It was still moisturized and soft, thanks to my nighttime routine the night before.
Day 4
I didn't do anything to my hair the night before, except apply a little Kyra's Shea Medleys Rejuvenation Butter Cream to my edges, band the front, and scarf pineapple.
Here's some bathroom mirror selfie action:
I hope this answers some curious questions about results, folks! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @maneobjective to get the most up-to-date info! Day 5 hair pics coming soon!

Great post! Thanks for sharing. I plan to go back to my wash and go's this summer. My product combo was off last summer but my technique was actually pretty good. I had to learn the hard way that Eco-styler alone on my hair was a huge dry no-no! Thanks again.
